CHRISTIAN EDUCATION

Church School Meets Sunday mornings at 10:30, September – May Classrooms are organized for pre-school children, elementary school children, and junior/senior high school teens. Adult forums are also offered on occasion.

Confirmation

Meets the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays, 7:00 – 8:30 PM
Confirmation students, generally in junior high school, meet for two years. The curriculum includes reviewing a number of Old and New Testament Scriptures, working on service projects, and exploring what it means to be United Methodist, all as the students prepare to be confirmed and enter into membership.

Membership Classes
Scheduled as requested Those interested in becoming members may talk with Pastor Carol at any time to discuss the meaning of membership vows, review United Methodist history and structure, and learn historic information about Epworth as a way to prepare for this commitment.

SMALL GROUPS

Morning Doves

Meets the second and fourth Tuesday at 7:30 AM A group of early risers meets for fellowship and discussion of issues or books chosen by the group. This group includes members of other churches, presently meeting at the Real Life Cooperative of Phalen Village.

SEARCH Group (Sunday Evening Adults Reflecting on Christ’s Holiness)
Meets the 1st and 3rd Sundays, 4:00 – 6:00 PM
This group explores contemporary issues for today, often by reading and discussing books. Recent books read include Earthy Mysticism by Tex Sample, The Shack by Wm. Paul Young and If Grace Is True: Why God Will Save Every Person by Philip Gulley and James Mulholland.

United Methodist Women

The UMW includes women united for Spiritual Growth, Social Action, and Mission Outreach. They have two sub groups:
Ruth Circle – Meets 1st Monday, September – June at 7:00 PM
Dorcas/Priscilla Circle – Meets 1st Thursday, April – December at 9:30 AM

Women’s Spiritual Growth and Support Group

Meets every other Sunday, 4:00 – 6:00 PM Often engaging in Bible study or other means of spiritual growth, this group meets at a member’s home. New members are always welcome.

Building and Grounds

Meets Tuesdays at 9:00 AM The Building and Grounds team volunteers to work at maintaining the facilities. This work consists of general repair of the interior structure, taking care of electrical and plumbing needs, and keeping the exterior of the building and parking lots in good repair.

MUSIC

Choir

Epworth’s choir meets on Sunday mornings at 8:00AM for rehearsal and sings anthems at the worship service at 9:00AM. Special music is offered throughout the year that may include solos and cantatas. Anyone who enjoys singing is always welcome and encouraged to be part of the group.

Youth Band

Junior and senior high school musicians who sing and play instruments such as guitar, bass guitar, drum set and hand percussion, gather on occasion to offer special music or lead the congregation in praise hymns.

MISSIONS

Epworth serves the community in a very meaningful way with its free clothing and caring ministry at God’s Closet. Also by collecting mittens for neighborhood children, donating paper products to Emma Norton housing services, and supporting the food shelf at Merrick Community Services. Epworth participates in national and world-wide relief projects through the United Methodist Committee on Relief.

Parish Nurse

Our parish nurse promotes congregational health needs of BODY, MIND & SPIRIT in ways including monthly health-related articles in the church newsletter and free monthly blood pressure checks after worship.
